Moylan-Coombs to oust Abbott

Susan Moylan-Coombs to run as an independent against Tony Abbott in Warringah. To begin with Moylan-Coombs has a deep grassroots and community activism background.

Further, she has no ties to the IPA or the Liberal Party. How refreshing!

“Independent thinking is what is needed in Warringah politics,”

Looking back

Susan grew up in the coastal suburb of Harbord (now Freshwater). Being the daughter of the late John Coombs QC and granddaughter of Dr H.C. “Nugget” Coombs — their family are Warringah locals.

Her community spirit began as a teen in the late 1970s. For instance, Susan was one of Australia’s first female surf lifesavers. Also, the first Indigenous surf lifesaver at South Curl Curl Beach.

Between 1987 and 2013, Susan Moylan-Coombs worked in national television broadcasting and media production behind the camera. Her career includes:

Later, Susan became involved in significant moments of progress for Australia’s First Peoples.

First, Paul Keating’s Redfern Park Speech. This launched the United Nations Decade for Indigenous Peoples in 1992. Here Moylan-Smith was director.

Next, fast forward to 2008. Susan Moylan-Coombs was involved in Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s National Apology to the Stolen Generations. Here Susan was the executive producer of the live broadcast.

In summary, Susan has been deeply involved in significant moments in our national story.

Toppling Abbott would be another impressive step towards an inclusive progressive Australia. Otherwise dinosaurs like Abbott have us perpetually looking backward.

Looking forward

Susan Moylan-Coombs is driven by a passion to make a positive contribution. And, not only for First Nations people but for all Australians.

“For business and culture, I’m interested in what unites us. When we find the unity in community we have a chance to heal as a nation. “

Discontent swirls around Tony Abbott re-contesting yet another election. He’s destroyed the Parliament and his party. Thus, the army of grass roots anti-Abbott activists grows daily.

Conversely, a strong independent woman like Susan will be a fresh change. Particularly after a stultifying two decades of Old Man Abbott.

“When we can listen with our hearts and be compassionate and kind; when we respect and value the unique and embrace individual differences, there is hope for the harmonious, sustainable future I believe Warringah voters desire.”

Conversely, Tony Abbott doesn’t listen to the local voters who have sent him to Canberra. As a result, Abbott is completely out of touch with community standards and values.

“It’s time for Warringah’s residents to remember what makes our small part of Australia unique, and to have their true voices heard in Federal Parliament.”

Elect Moylan-Coombs turf Abbott

“I want to help rebuild community pride by representing my electorate’s progressive outlook on climate action, a sustainable economy, and funding for health, education and public broadcasting.”

Susan Moylan-Coombs will campaign on global warming and indigenous affairs. Also, she proposes a Museum of Humanity at Manly. Thereby uniting our past and present for the future.

Above all, good luck Susan Moylan-Coombs. Another strong indigenous woman’s voice in Parliament is welcome. It’s your chance to act Warringah. In this case, send a positive voice to Parliament as your representative.

In short: enough is enough. Abbott has to go.

The end.
