Deep in his heart, Tony Abbott is not an Australian.

Atatürk Vs Shit Happens

Don’t ever call me unpatriotic. I love Australia. But, to be totally honest, I’d rather have the President of Turkey represent me at any ANZAC commemorative services.

When I read this New Matilda article, my opinion of Tony Abbott’s history as a person, sank to a new nadir. Later, I read this over at the Herald.

Why do you think Abbott was christened ‘Dr No’; and his Tory Tea Party labeled  ‘The Noalition’?

It’s because he’s not really Australian at all, not deep down. In his core Abbott’s a Pom. As Opposition Leader, Abbott spent years perfecting his whinge and moan. Think about all nicknames associated with him; all negative.

Bear with me for a second. They taught me in High School History that back in the Gallipoli days, the Poms used Australian’s and New Zealanders as cannon fodder. The Poms were the Aristocrats in charge and, of course, they remained in command and were in relatively safety. Pommie Toff’s ran the war; the ANZAC’s and everyone else NOT #KnightsAndDames were completely expendable.

As the quintessential whinging Pom, Abbott openly displays the same ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude for the men and women who have served their country and died under their flag.

His infamous “Shit Happens” comment when he was talking about a brave Australian soldier, killed carrying out his mission, shows his callous disregard for the family of those killed. And those combatants who survive forever maimed and injured. “Shit Happens” will haunt Abbott forever.

Lance Corporal Jared MacKinney, was shot and killed in a battle with Taliban insurgents in Deh Rahwod, in the western part of Orūzgān Province, during the Battle of Derapet on 24 August 2010.

It was Corporal MacKinney’s death that Abbott treated with such disdain. Abbott made his insensitive comments without any thought of Jared MacKinney’s memory or the feelings of Jared MacKinney’s family. A family left behind when Jared MacKinney paid the ultimate price for his country.

You can view the video of “Shit Happens” and make up your own mind.

Abbott shows a total lack of respect, and zero remorse for his insensitivity, because deep in his heart, as a Pom, its impossible for him to ever share the ANZAC spirit.

Tony Abbott is not an Australian. Neither was Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

In 1934, check what Kemal Atatürk, the First President of the Republic of Turkey, wrote about dying at war:

Those heroes that shed their blood
And lost their lives.
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
Therefore, rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies
And the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side,
Here in this country of ours.
You, the mothers,
Who sent their sons from far away countries,
Wipe away your tears.
Your sons are now lying in our bosom
And are in peace.
After having lost their lives on this land they have
Become our sons as well.

ataturk_03Kemal Atatürk didn’t have to write these words of comfort. That he did shows a true understanding and appreciation for the terrible conflict that took a heavy toll on a generation of young men, from many nations, including his own.

The profound respect Kemal Atatürk showed to the mothers of those foreign soldiers who died in his far off country in terrible battles, is completely absent in Tony Abbott.

Abbott simply does not understand the sacrifices the sons and daughters of Australia have made over the years for the honour of their country. These Australian men and women in our Armed Services die for a cause. Whether you agree with the cause or not, their country called for them, they answered – and they died.

It’s personal stories, real stories of real people, like Lance Corporal Jared MacKinney that make Australia what it is today. Clichéd though it may sound, its patently true. As individuals we all contribute to the whole that is this nation Australia.

On top of everything else Abbott has trashed, that he would trash D-Day where thousands of lives were lost in bloody, brutal conflict, was the last straw for me. I was, and am – boiling.

Suspend your thoughts on his policies for a sec, Tony Abbott, forever the mercenary fool actually politicized the ANZAC tradition.

With Abbott, it’s all about votes. And being Mr Popular. He’s a shonky used car salesman, a barrow boy, and a really poor one at that.

For all of these reasons, and more, I say, I’d rather have the President of Turkey represent me at ANZAC commemorative services during the Centenary Remembrance year.

If you’d like to hear Abbott explaining how he understands the meaning of ANZAC while alerting the world Australia is open for business, go right ahead. I’d prefer to eat dirt myself.

Come at me now, I’m ready.

  1. lol he is a total loser and an embarrassment to Australia. Only he could make a lovely nation like Canada sound like a yeast infection (ie: Canadia) I don’t want HIM representing me either. I am opposed to war, however I am very proud of our service men and women. I am in that massive group whose men went off to war in our family for 3 generations and did so with no complaining, just went to protect our nation so pride is strong within. I am ashamed he is the PM for this nation, and want him gone.

  2. I’ve finally applied for Oz citizenship (reason I’m currently trying in spite of frequent failure to be circumspect about our government), so was all primed to tell you about being a dyed in the wool Aussie having zip to do with where you spent the first couple of years of life. The very, very last thing I expected was to be in tears reading the words of a long dead Turkish politician! Have often thought the mothers who lost their boys to war were robbed of the unacknowledged investment of nurturing – of sacrificing their energy, their youth and their hearts – that’s repaid seeing them grown and independent. Anyway, Abbott is either a fuckwit of the first water or in the grip of a personality disorder. Emphatically not representative of Oz or Old Blighty in his behaviour!

    • Yes. Agreed. Ataturk was no angel but those words moved me too.

Good luck with your citizenship. If you make it for next year, you might get to shake hands with Abbott. Unless the #LibSpill happens first. HeHe
